Healthcare professionals: a solid language foundation with Dutch B1 and B2
Your path in Dutch healthcare starts with strong Dutch. Our expertise is bringing you to the general language level you need, B1 and B2: four skills, exam formats and confidence in speaking. Medical terminology and professional medical knowledge are not our specialism, and we tell you so openly from the start.
What we do best
Our craft is general Dutch: bringing you to B1 and B2 in a balanced way across all four skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking). In class you get plenty of speaking practice, you get to know exam formats such as the Staatsexamen NT2, and your confidence grows step by step. You follow your progress together with your teacher.
Solid Dutch at B1-B2 is the foundation for following your professional training, communicating with ease at work and building your professional vocabulary on top of it. We lay that foundation with you.
Medical language: the right place to learn it
We are not specialists in medical terminology or professional medical content, and we do not teach the professional knowledge content of BIG exams. That part is best learned in your professional training or from a medical specialist. We provide the general language level that path rests on.
The route we recommend
If you have not reached B1 yet, you start with the level courses. At B1, the B1 → B2 course (96 live hours, €1,199) takes you to B2; if you are aiming for Staatsexamen NT2 Programma II, you practise the exam technique in the NT2 Programma II package. If your schedule does not fit a group or you want to focus on one skill, private lessons (€55 per 60 min) are the most flexible option.
Language threshold by profession (BIG-register, AKV test abolished in 2024)
| Profession group | Required level | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Doctor, dentist, pharmacist (WO) | B2+ | A general B2 diploma does not automatically count as B2+ |
| Physiotherapist, midwife (HBO) | B2 | Certificate covering four skills |
| Nurse (MBO) | B1 | Certificate covering four skills |
The certificate must be no older than 2 years and cover four skills. Training provider and exam provider are separate roles; Felemenkçe Akademi is not an exam provider.
Frequently asked questions
Do you also teach medical terminology?
No. Medical terminology and professional medical content are not our specialism; that part is best learned in your professional training or from a medical specialist. Our expertise is bringing you to B1 and B2 in general Dutch, the strongest foundation for your professional language.
Which level do I need for my profession?
It depends on the profession group: MBO nurse B1, HBO professions (physiotherapist, midwife) B2, WO professions (doctor, dentist, pharmacist) B2+; a general B2 diploma does not automatically count as B2+. Confirm with the BIG-register which documents and exam providers are accepted. We determine your current level and the right programme together in the free level consultation.
Do you guarantee BIG registration?
No institution can honestly guarantee an exam result, and neither do we. If you attend at least 80 percent of the lessons and still don't reach your goal, we offer free extra practice and review sessions with your teacher.
